THE OLD LIBRARY DIRECTORY | MAP DESIGN
The Problem
The building I use daily for photography and graphic design classes has a complex layout that isn’t clearly communicated through its existing directory. As someone who navigates this space regularly, I experienced firsthand how unclear wayfinding can disrupt movement, orientation, and overall usability—especially in a creative environment where spaces serve distinct functions.
The Solution
This project reimagines the building’s wayfinding system through an isometric, diagram-driven approach. Using my own experience within the space, I translated its layout into a clear, structured visual system that prioritizes readability and navigation. By combining simplified forms, hierarchy, and a design-forward aesthetic, the project creates a directory that not only improves usability but also reflects the identity of the creative disciplines housed within the building.
